Open Question – Can Yoga Make You Lose Weight?

I'm a size 14 Aus, and I have just started Yoga and I'm not sure weather this is the best thing for me, will I lose weight from doing yoga. A problem that I have is also I have trouble leaving the house, when I am around crowds I have panic attacks and faint so I have to try and do my exercise at home. Any good ideas, also I feel that I am lazy and don't always have the up and go to do full on exercise. Please help. There are really a few issues here. I'll try to offer suggestions all around. First things first, yes, yoga can help you lose weight? Why? It burns calories and it raises your metabolism. Yoga, in fact, is one of the hardest forms of exercise I've ever done. Even though you aren't “doing much,” your muscles will ache after a good session. Indeed, yoga is one of the best overall exercises around. Plus, it calms you down, which may actually help with your agoraphobia. Remember, you've been out in public before and you didn't die. That's a good thing. I used to have a mild form of this. Mine vanished when I got some self esteem. However you can gain some self-confidence, do it. Yoga will certainly help, especially if some of your anxiety stems from a poor self-image. As for your laziness, I suspect a lot of it is related to your anxiety and self-loathing. I am certainly no psychologist; please don't misinterpret what I'm saying here – But GET OFF YOUR ASS! Seriously, when you are “up to here” with your discomfort, you will do something about it. Guaranteed. Now, let's make sure it's a POSITIVE. Get fit, learn something new, master an art. Do whatever it takes. Unfortunately, nobody can make you do this. Except you. I seriously suggest you seek professional help. There is a lot that you can do to alleviate some of this stress; let a professional assist you.
